Whitewashing
2026
15 linear meters, installation in the space
15 linear meters of pigment-infused string, tablecloths
The key to this piece is time and the inevitability of the process.
The snow-white sheets, which traditionally evoke hygiene, home, innocence, and a "clean slate" (tabula rasa), are hung up wet. Water, instead of cleansing, becomes a conduit for dirt here.
The rope, soaked in pigment, slowly and through capillary action begins to stain the fabric.
Processuality and the Illusion of Purity (The Mechanism
of "Whitewashing").
In a political context, this is a brilliant metaphor for whitewashing—the attempts to cover up scandals, alter historical narratives,
or erase inconvenient facts by those in power. The installation demonstrates that total bleaching is an illusion. What was meant
to be clean subconsciously and inevitably absorbs the hidden dye. Purity turns out to be a fragile facade, through which the "truth"
or hidden intentions always begin to seep.
